Deadline for applications: 4 Apr 2020
Salary: £32,817 - £35,845
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the group of Dr Dany Beste at the University of Surrey to work on an exciting BBSRC funded research project focused on fundamental biology of the tuberculosis bacillus. The work will involve research using in-vitro and macrophage models of tuberculosis, studies into the metabolism of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and also testing novel anti-tuberculosis compounds. The over-arching aim is to develop novel strategies to target drug resistant tuberculosis.
This is a collaborative project with the University of Birmingham, Kings College London and the Indian Institute of Science and therefore will involve national and international travel. We would like to appoint an enthusiastic scientist capable of trail-blazing our research. Ideally applicants should have published (or be about to publish) in peer-reviewed journals. For us it is also important that the candidate is a team player with good communication skills and can contribute to an exciting but nurturing and supportive research environment. Our laboratory is located at the beautiful Stag Hill campus of the University of Surrey in the heart of Guildford.
In addition to salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent training and development opportunities. Benefits package includes pension, childcare assistance and leisure facilities.
