Biography:

Happy completed her PhD at Stellenbosch University, Immunology Research Group in Cape Town, South Africa. Her PhD evaluated immunological signatures associated with susceptibility to tuberculosis in people with type 2 diabetes. Following this, she joined the Clinical Mycobacteriology and Epidemiology Research Group where she is characterizing the microbiome and its association with tuberculosis pathogenesis. Her interests are in the microbiome-immune interactions, to study how these interactions influence tuberculosis outcomes such as achieving sterilizing cure or experiencing recurrence.
