VALIDATE is here to support its members in their careers and research. We thought we would remind everyone of the resources we offer:

  • Careers and Professional Development (CPD) Resources: VALIDATE is here to help with your career. Here you will find details of resources and advice that you will find useful for your Career and Professional Development.
  • Data Resources: Here you will find a list of relevant DNA databases as well as some links to free online bioinformatics training.
    • You can also find a list of available data sets from VALIDATE projects on our Data Sharing page.
  • VALIDATE Network Members Directory: VALIDATE is a network of over hundreds of vaccine researchers in hundreds of institutions and organisations worldwide. Use this directory to search through our members and perhaps form your next collaboration.
  • Collaborating Institutes: VALIDATE members can be found in hundreds of institutions around the world. Use this map to explore the world and fellow VALIDATE members in your organisation or local area.
  • Events: Find out more about VALIDATE's upcoming and past events and details of external events that are of interest to our members.

Reminder: Register for VALIDATE Annual Meeting Days Two and Three 

We had a very successful Day One of the VALIDATE Annual Meeting 2021. You can still find out and register for Days Two and Three (14 October and 16 November 2021), on the VALIDATE Annual Meeting 2021 webpage.

 

Funding:

  • BBSRC Bioinformatics and Biological Resources - Apply for funding to establish, maintain and enhance bioinformatics and biological resources to support the UK bioscience research community – 17 November 2021
  • MRC Clinical academic research partnership - MRC are looking for research-qualified (PhD or MD) healthcare professionals at consultant level or equivalent, not currently undertaking any substantial research activity, to take part in collaborative high-quality research partnerships with established – 18 November 2021
  • MRC Biomed Catalyst - Supporting the pre-clinical development and early clinical testing of novel therapeutics, devices and diagnostics, including “re-purposing” of existing therapies – deadline 24 November 2021
  • One Health Approach to Zoonoses Research and Innovation - The overall goal of the ICRAD call is to support cross-cutting research and innovation to better understand zoonoses – deadline 15 December 2021

Highlights on Twitter this week:

Dr Cristiana Vagnoni thanked VALIDATE for our contribution to The UK’s Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology report on Vaccines and we celebrated our Network Directors Prof Helen McShane’s contribution. New VALIDATE member King Duho celebrated joining the network and we reminded followers about the latest VALIDATE Fellowships opportunities. Write that PhD had advice for persuading reviewers and peers about the value of your research and the Kenya based Mawazo institute in is asking for African scientists to help them understand the impact of the pandemic on research. Nature Careers lamented the lack of women Nobel Prize winners, shared a new toolkit for reporting research misconduct, discussed the challenges of being a researcher in Latin America, and research that shows that virtual programmes offer a useful pathway into science careers. Stay up to date with all the relevant news and opportunities by following @NetworkVALIDATE on Twitter.
