The VALIDATE Network - Vaccine development for complex intracellular neglected pathogens
BactiVac Grant Writing Workshop 2019
Applications close: 6 Jan 2019
Course dates: 19 March 2019
Location: Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, University of Birmingham, UK
This one-day event will be a fast-paced introduction to grant writing, delivered by Dr Sandy Williams from Scriptoria. Dr Williams is a professional writer with a scientific PhD who has been successful in winning funds herself from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Leverhulme Trust and the UK Department for International Development. The workshop will be interactive, with participants being encouraged to ask the questions you may have always wanted to ask. The morning will focus on proposals themselves, and the afternoon will cover the scientific writing skills that are key to producing high-quality grant proposals.
The target audience are researchers with little or no experience in writing proposals to UK funding bodies, including BactiVac's catalyst funding calls. Applicants must be members of the BactiVac Network, applications for membership will be processed alongside applications to attend the Workshop. Successful applicants are also expected to register to attend the 2nd Annual Network Meeting 20 & 21 March 2019, as attendance at the Workshop is linked to attendance at the Annual Network Meeting.
Preference for the allocation of places will be given to:
• Early career researchers (defined as individuals who do not currently hold a substantive position within their organisation)
• Applicants who are resident in LMIC countries
