A position for a Laboratory Coordinator is available to work within the Centre for Clinical Microbiology within the Division of Infection and Immunity at the Royal Free Campus.
The Centre for Clinical Microbiology has been successful in obtaining further funding for its tuberculosis research, which is focussed on investigating better treatments and methods of monitoring treatment. The successful applicant will join the research team engaged in delivering these projects.
This Laboratory Coordinator position is funded by the PanACEA consortium with funding from the EDCTP (http://panacea-tb.net/). The consortium brings together a group of scientist from more than 14 countries with skills in clinical trials design and implementation, pulmonology, mycobacteriology, pharmacokinetics, statistics and delivery of clinical services.
PanACEA's mission is to shorten and simplify treatment of Tuberculosis (TB), to increase the TB clinical trial capacity in Africa and to develop a sustainable TB clinical Trials network in Africa. PanACEA is delivering phase 2 and 2b studies testing new and established drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis. Working with colleagues in the consortium, the post holder will be responsible for training in and delivery of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice in the mycobacterial laboratories participating in PanACEA as well as research to improve TB clinical trials and methodology.
This post is funded until 28 February 2022 in the first instance.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a PhD and experience of working in a microbiology laboratory with Tuberculosis (TB) or significant equivalent experience. Experience of working in a containment 3 level facility is essential as is experience of laboratory supervision, including quality management.
