We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Manager to manage our immunology and diagnostics laboratories at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in Keppel Street. This is an exciting opportunity to join LSHTM in this new role, as we seek to grow and expand laboratory science. The post will be the accountable officer for all day-to-day activity within the labs for which they are responsible, ensuring safe working within agreed protocols and operating procedures. They will also supervise the Assistant Laboratory Manager (Immunology) and Assistant Laboratory Manager (Diagnostics) who will manage the Flow Cytometry equipment. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the successful performance of experiments to support research activities
The successful applicant will have a degree in a biological science or equivalent experience, plus experience in managing research laboratories. Experience of using detailed Health & Safety knowledge in a laboratory setting to manage risk is essential, as is knowledge and experience of immunology techniques (particularly those involving antibody-based immune assays). A safety qualification, plus experience of working with flow cytometry, and working in category III containment facilities is desirable. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time and permanent. Salary is on the Professional Support Grade 6 scale in the range £40,011 - £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
