The VALIDATE Network - Vaccine development for complex intracellular neglected pathogens
Postdoctoral Training Fellow
Deadline: 8 November 2020
The laboratory of Dr Eachan Johnson seeks a researcher interested in developing and applying interdisciplinary, quantitative techniques to the problem of antimicrobial resistance in tuberculosis, a top-10 cause of death globally which kills around 1.5 million people each year. We use tools from microbial genetics, chemical biology, and computational biology to discover a repertoire of small molecules with new targets active in the causative agent of tuberculosis, the pathogenic bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We then apply these small molecule tools to dissecting the molecular and systems biology of this pathogenic bacterium and prototyping new treatment strategies. The successful applicant will have good communication and organisational skills and a PhD (or be in the final stages of PhD submission) in a relevant area.
