Programme Manager - In vitro Reporting Guidelines
Employer: NC3Rs, UK
Salary: £37,769 - £44,396 (plus London allowances)
Contract Type: Fixed Term
Contract Length: 3 years
The NC3Rs has a long-standing programme of work focusing on improving the design, analysis and reporting of animal experiments in order to ensure that studies are robust and reproducible, contribute to the knowledge base, and avoid the unnecessary use of animals. The team currently includes the NC3Rs lead for experimental design and two Science Managers.
Key aspects of the programme include the ARRIVE reporting guidelines and the online Experimental Design Assistant (EDA).
The NC3Rs are extending this programme of work to develop guidance to support improved reporting of in vitro research. These guidelines (working title, the RIVER guidelines - reporting In Vitro Experiments Responsibly) will optimise the reproducibility of in vitro studies and improve confidence in their validity to support wider uptake.
The main responsibilities include:
- Gathering an evidence-base to support the reporting guidelines.
- Convening an expert working group and supporting the work on developing the guidelines.
- Coordinating the publication and dissemination of the guidelines.
- Working with endorsers of the guidelines to ensure implementation in practice.
- Organising workshops, symposia and dedicated communication materials to promote the uptake of the guidelines across the scientific community, nationally and internationally.
- Collating information on the number and location of organisations endorsing the guidelines and supporting activities to measure impact.
The post is within the NC3Rs Policy and Outreach Group and the ability to work as part of a dynamic team is essential.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a biological science, ideally with in vitro experience.
