More than a million children develop TB each year, with over 200,000 dying from the disease. Clinical trials are complex projects in the best of circumstances. Carrying them out in children is more difficult but necessary if they are to receive the best care. This is even harder with the distraction and destruction of that other pandemic - COVID-19.
In this talk, Di Gibb describes the need for, and challenges in carrying out paediatric trials, on which she has spent much of her career, and how these can lead to changes in policy. One recent example is the SHINE trial which aimed to reduce length of TB treatment in children.
