The University of York is seeking an experienced immunologist, based in the Centre for Immunology and Infection, Department of Biology and Hull York Medical School, to work on an exciting program of research on post kala azar dermal leishmaniasis, being conducted in collaboration with researchers based in Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda.
Funded by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) until March 2023, the post provides an exciting opportunity to be engaged in immune monitoring for a Phase II therapeutic vaccine trial, to conduct cutting-edge research into the pathogenesis of visceral leishmaniasis/post kala azar dermal leishmaniasis and to help build research capacity across East Africa.
Key responsibilities will be to contribute to immune monitoring for the clinical trial, to conduct research, developing and applying techniques in molecular pathology and to provide support and training to the University of York's overseas collaborators, requiring regular travel to East Africa.
You will have a PhD in Immunology or related discipline, with an excellent record of publication. You will have proven experience in immunohistology, flow cytometry, transcriptomics, and image analysis, and be able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of human immunology. Experience in skin immunology would be advantageous but is not essential.
