Biography:
I am working as Senior Scientist (Scientist E) in Department of Microbiology, DRDE, India. I did masters in Biotechnology and PhD in Biotechnology (Parasitology) Central Drug Research Institute Lucknow, India. I have published >25 research articles in the journal of international repute. I am life member of Indian Immunology society, Association of Microbiologist of India and Society of Biological Chemists, India. I am recipient of Laboratory Scientist of the Year Award from DRDO for my research contribution in plague vaccine research. My research interest focuses mainly on vaccine immunology and therapeutic potential of neutralizing antibodies against bacterial/viral pathogens. My current research is on subunit vaccine development against plague and anthrax. In the recent past, I have characterized and evaluated immunodominant antigens as potential vaccine candidates in small animal model against viral agents i.e. JE and Dengue Virus; and bacterial agents i.e., S. typhi and B. abortus. I am also working on host-pathogen interaction. Y. pestis has type-III secretion system and it secretes virulent factors during infection and diminishes the cytoplasmic activity of the macrophages. My new research project emphasizes on proteinprotein interaction to elucidate the mechanism, how the virulent factors released by bacterium interact with host macrophages?
