Research Keywords: Systems biology of M. tuberculosis, metabolomics, BCG vaccine development Biography: My work at the University of Surrey focusses on systems approaches to pathogenesis, investigating particularly metabolism of the TB bacillus. We construct metabolic models and perform metabolomics experiments to identify metabolic fluxes within and between the pathogen and its host cell. I am also interested in investigating persistence in mycobacteria and we perform microfluidic single-cell experiments to investigate persistence. I am also PI of a project to develop a novel BCG vaccine strain lacking immune-dominant antigens and complementary skin-test diagnostics for cattle and humans.
