VALIDATE Role:

Network Investigator

Research Keywords:

TB, innate immunity, MMPs, migration

Biography:

My main research interests are first, in the innate immune response to tuberculosis and in particular, in the mechanisms regulating control of tissue destruction in patients with a view to developing host directed therapies and secondly, in migrant health.  Research is strongly translational from basic cellular mechanisms to investigating patient responses. My team collaborate widely across 5 continents but have a particular long-standing collaboration with partners in Peru.

I am a clinical academic and have recently moved to St. George’s, University of London as Deputy Prinicipal (Research and Enterprise) having spent nearly a quarter of a century at the Hammersmith campus of Imperial College London.
