Biography: Dr. Namaunga Kasumu Chisompola is a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences in the Michael Chilufya Sata School of Medicine were she is also the Head of Department. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, from Stellenbosch University, with a focus on the genetic characterisation of drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates from regions of Zambia. She also holds a Master of Research in Biomedical Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology both from University of Glasgow. Her research interests lie in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), healthcare associated infections, and improving point of care diagnostic techniques for infectious diseases.
