Biography:

Supram HS, a medical microbiologist, graduated from Manipal University, India, in 2011. He pursued his Ph.D. (faculty of medicine) from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. At present working as Assistant professor of Medical Microbiology, Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Nepal. He is experienced in diagnostic microbiology and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. He is a member of the Infection Control Committee at Manipal Teaching Hospital.

His area of research is infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (One Health perspective), and emerging fungal infections. He is specifically working in the field of AMR surveillance using One-Health genomic approach to investigate the flow of antimicrobial resistomes among Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL/CRE) and MRSA from rural farming communities of Nepal in order to understand the reservoirs and sources for human acquisition.

Since 2014, he has been working on various international collaborative research projects. His research yielded more than 30 publications in national and international medical journals (H index is 6 in Web of Science), with additional manuscripts under peer review. He is an active reviewer for several academic journals like PlosOne, NJE, BMC series, EC Microbiology, AJMS. He also received various international awards for his research, like “Infectious Disease Fellow Award” and “ASM student and postdoctoral travel award” from American Society for Microbiology, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation “Professional development grant” from International Society for Infectious Diseases- USA, Travel grants from ESCMID, Virology education, FEMS etc. He is an active member of various national and international scientific bodies like ASM, ISHAM, ISID, IFIC, Microbiology Society, SIHAM, Society for Applied Microbiology, IDSA, etc. Additionally, he is serving as a member of EpiCore (western Nepal), a virtual international community of health professionals using innovative surveillance methods to verify outbreaks of infectious diseases.
