Biography:
Currently, I am coordinating the Spatial CL study (Clinicaltrials.gov NCT05332093), wherein we aim to investigate the host-parasite interactions in the different clinical presentations of Ethiopian cutaneous leishmaniasis in a spatial and single-cell resolved manner. In parallel, I am involved in the CPS study (Clinicaltrials.gov NCT05602610) where we will assess immunological biomarkers to predict treatment outcome for Ethiopian visceral leishmaniasis to eventually wheel into point-of-care diagnostic assays. My main research focuses on identifying Leishmania epitopes capable of eliciting protective T cell responses, thereby potentially qualifying them as vaccine candidates. For this, I am developing a methodological pipeline including advanced T-cell focused assays.
