VALIDATE Annual Meeting: Day One - Watch Now!

Today, over 60 VALIDATE members met on zoom to participate for Day One of the VALIDATE Annual Meeting 2021. The event was chaired by Prof Mitali Chatterjee and you can watch the opening session on Youtube​, which includes talks from Helen McShane, Dr Himangi Bhardawaj MBE from British High Commission in India, and an update on VALIDATE from Samantha Vermaak.

Pump Priming and Fellowship Talks - Available on the VALIDATE Hub

Day One also featured talks from three talks from recipients of our Pump Priming grants and Dr Rachel Tanner talked through her VALIDATE Fellowship Project. Some of these presentations contain unpublished data, so members need to watch them on the VALIDATE Hub.

Funding:

  • BBSRC Research endemic diseases that threaten UK livestock - Apply for funding to research endemic diseases that present a significant threat to UK livestock. This can include work to share knowledge between research disciplines – deadline 20 September 2021

  • BSI Career Enhancing Grants - The British Society for Immunology is proud to launch an exciting new grant scheme to provide an extra level of career support to our members – deadline 20 September 2021

  • BBSRC Standard Research Grant (21RM3) - Projects can range in size up to £2 million and last up to five years.  – deadline 21 September 2021

  • Global Learning Scholarship Program - Providing opportunities for scientists and researchers from LMICs to access the latest ideas, science, technology and partnerships to make a positive impact on fighting global disease – deadline 21 September 2021

Highlights on Twitter this week:

It has been a busy week on Twitter and we spent today live-tweeting our Annual Meeting. Nature Careers some tips on proposal writing, The BBSRC asked followers to take part in their survey on AI, and RESULTS UK shared an article on the need for more support for TB, HIV and Malaria after COVID-19. The BSI gave a one-week warning for their Career Enhancing Grant deadline, The Plos Global Health team recorded a panel on diversity in science publishing, in November BlackImuno week will be celebrating the contribution of black scientists to immunology and WriteThatPhD had advice for formulating and testing hypotheses.
