  • Mr King Duho is a VALIDATE Affiliate and consultant at Dataking Research Lab in Ghana
  • Dr Namaunga Kasumu Chisompola is VALIDATE Associate and a lecturer and researcher at Copperbelt University School of Medicine, Zambia
  • Mr Jonathan Adjei is a VALIDATE Affiliate and a student at the Department of Molecular Medicine, Kwame Nkrumah University, Ghana

Funding:

  • ERC Synergy Grants 2021 - Are you a researcher that wants to address a research problem so ambitious, that can not be dealt with you and your team alone? The Synergy Grants could be for you! – deadline 10 November 2021
  • BBSRC Partner with Indian bioscience laboratories - Apply for funding to develop links with laboratories in India. This is part of the wider International Partnering Awards programme – 11 November 2021
  • UK-US research: ecology and evolution of infectious diseases 2021- The funders wish to encourage high quality, innovative research on the ecological, evolutionary, and social drivers that influence the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases – deadline 24 November 2021
  • 20ALERT: Mid-range equipment funding - The minimum value is £200,000 (inc. VAT) at 100% full economic costing over 12 months. The call budget is approximately £10 million – deadline 26 November 2021
  • Daphne Jackson Fellowships, 2021 - These fellowships are for those looking to return to a research career after a break of two or more years for family, health or caring reasons – deadline 14 December 2021

Highlights on Twitter this week:

WriteThatPhD shared a step by step guide for writing research proposals, TBNewsDaily shared an article about a new way to administer BCG, and Sci Foundation UK shared an article on the impact of UK aid cuts on leishmaniasis research. OSU Center for Clinical and Translational Science celebrated the approval of a preclinical vaccine research for visceral leishmaniasis, we shared details of a live vaccine that protects hamsters from lethal leishmaniasis infection, and the worrying rise of Leishmaniasis cases in the US.
